Multicultural Children & Youth Support Center Model Project

Implemented FY2019–FY2021 as a WAM Grant Project

The "Multicultural Children & Youth Support Center" is based on our organization's track record of supporting children and young people with foreign connections since its founding. It was implemented as a three-year WAM grant model project aiming to create a comprehensive one-stop support center.

  1. Establishing safe spaces and learning classrooms where children and young people can connect daily
  2. Consultation function based on safe spaces and learning classrooms
  3. Network with schools, government, welfare agencies, NPOs, and other organizations

Furthermore, by communicating these support center activities to society, we collaborated with national, prefectural, and municipal government agencies to address issues and advocate policies to eliminate social inequalities and institutional disadvantages faced by children and young people with foreign connections, as well as their families (multicultural families).

Based on the model project outcomes, we will continue to advocate for the necessity of the "Multicultural Children & Youth Support Center."

構想

From local Japanese language learning classrooms for children with foreign connections to a gathering place + counseling center for junior high, high school, and older youth. As a place supporting their social participation after high school, we envision a "Multicultural Children & Youth Support Center" as a one-stop center in collaboration with various organizations.
